Cantonese, also known as Yue, has more than 85 million speakers worldwide, with a majority located in the Guangdong and Guangxi provinces of China and in Hong Kong and Macau. Cantonese is primarily a spoken language, though there are some special Cantonese characters used in informal contexts such as comic books.
